How Much Does a Personal Trainer Cost in Canberra?

In Canberra in 2026, one-on-one personal training in a gym costs roughly $83 to $140 per session or coached hour, depending on how it is packaged and what is included.

Below are our own prices in full, the prices other Canberra trainers publish, and what actually makes personal training more or less expensive.

What Off The Pine charges

Our in-gym coaching is sold as a weekly package rather than a pack of sessions, because the weekly rhythm is what keeps people training. Every package includes a personalised program in the training app, messaging with your coach between sessions, progress reviews every four weeks and a Kickstart Session.

What other Canberra trainers publish

Most Canberra personal trainers do not publish prices. Two that do sell packs of sessions. In October 2026 their published prices were:

PackPricePer session
10 sessions$849$84.90
12 sessions$999$83.25
10 × 45-minute sessions$875$87.50
10 × 60-minute sessions$1,000$100

Session lengths and inclusions differ between businesses, so compare what you get for the money, not just the per-session figure.

What changes the price

  • Session length. A 30 or 45-minute session costs less than an hour, but there is less time to coach.
  • One-on-one or shared. Training as a duo or trio splits one rate between two or three people.
  • Where you train. Coming to you at home adds travel time, which is built into the price.
  • What is included. A program, an app, messaging and progress reviews are part of some prices and extra in others.
  • Commitment. A weekly package with a minimum term usually costs less per hour than casual sessions, and it is easier to stick with.

Ways to make personal training cost less

  • Train with a friend or partner. On Gold, two people pay $104.50 each a week, and three pay about $70 each.
  • Use online coaching at $89 a week if you are confident training on your own with a coach checking in.
  • Train in the gym rather than at home, which avoids travel costs.
  • Choose the amount of coached time you will actually use. Silver gives you one focused hour a week and a plan for the rest.

Is a personal trainer worth the money?

It is worth it when it changes what you actually do. Most people do not fail for lack of information. They fail because training is the first thing to go when the week gets busy. A coach, a fixed weekly time and someone who notices when you drift are what make the difference.

If you have tried programs and apps on your own and keep starting over, coaching is usually the missing piece. If you already train consistently and just want a plan, online coaching may be enough.
